AWS Cost Optimisation

AWS cost optimisation from read-only access: idle capacity, missing commitments, oversized instances and untagged spend, each finding with the evidence behind it. Fixed scope, fixed price, and a report signed by a named consultant.

What we do

Find what the AWS bill hides, then fix it in code

Cost Explorer shows you a total. We show you where it comes from: instances sized for a peak that never came, Savings Plans covering none of a steady baseline, volumes and snapshots nobody owns, NAT gateways moving data that could stay inside a VPC, and AI services being called from credentials nobody budgeted for.

We work from AWS’s own data (Cost Explorer, Cost Optimization Hub, Compute Optimizer and Cost Anomaly Detection), so every finding is one you can verify in your own console. Where your infrastructure is in Terraform, the fix arrives as a diff you can review and apply.

What we look at
  • Rightsizing for EC2, RDS and EBS, from Compute Optimizer’s utilisation data rather than guesswork
  • Savings Plans and Reserved Instance coverage and utilisation, and what a commitment should cover
  • Idle and orphaned resources: unattached volumes, old snapshots, idle load balancers and stopped-but-billed capacity
  • NAT gateway and data-transfer charges, and the traffic that causes them
  • S3 storage classes, lifecycle rules and versioning left on by accident
  • EKS: requests and limits, node groups, Graviton and Spot where they fit
  • Cost anomalies, judged against a materiality threshold you agree, not a tool’s default
  • AI spend: Bedrock and SageMaker use, which credentials make the calls, and whether it was approved
  • Tagging and cost allocation, so the next review starts from a clean baseline
How it works

Three steps, and nothing runs in your account

  1. Plan

Before you grant anything, we send the exact list of read-only API calls the review will make, for your security team to check.

  2. Collect

You create a read-only role. One pass reads billing and utilisation data for the window we agree, usually 90 days. Nothing is installed.

  3. Report

Findings ranked by value and effort, each with its evidence and, where you use Terraform, the change as code. Reviewed and signed by a named consultant.

Engagements & pricing

Fixed scope. Fixed price.

Every engagement is scoped and priced before work begins. You buy a result, not hours.

Free AWS cost audit

A read-only pass over one account for the last 90 days, and a short written summary of the top findings. No commitment.

Read-only. One account, one region set, one window.

Two-week optimisation sprint

The full review across your accounts, a prioritised plan, and the changes delivered as Terraform diffs your team reviews and applies. If you’re not happy with the work, you don’t pay.

Fixed scope. Agreed and priced up front, after a short call.

Questions buyers ask

Before you grant access

Do you need write access to our AWS account?

No. Everything is read from a role you create with read-only permissions, and you get the list of API calls before you create it. You can revoke the role the moment the collection finishes.

Do you install anything?

No. The review works from AWS’s billing and describe APIs. Deeper Kubernetes findings can use in-cluster metrics if you already run them, but nothing is added to your environment for this.

Which accounts can you review?

Any AWS account, including all member accounts of an organisation through a read-only role in the management account. Azure and Google Cloud are covered under FinOps & Cost OptimisationAWS Cost Optimisation.

Do you make the changes?

You choose. The plan is written so your engineers can act on it. If you want us to implement it, the changes are delivered as code, reviewed with your team, and applied through your own pipeline.

Is a saving guaranteed?

No. The report says what the evidence shows, and recoverable spend is reported separately from what something currently costs, so a figure is never inflated. The free audit exists so you can see the quality of the findings before you commit to anything.
